Here we are on the last week. The time is changing and also what fruits and vegies are available in the store. I am looking forward to eating some good oranges and grapefruit but will wait till they are really in season. I did buy some cranberries but the only way I eat them is in a cranberry muffin receipe. Pumpkin is big too but need sugar to eat it. However, I do substitute pumpkin for the butter in a receipe. Try it for even part of the butter. I have ate some pears lately. Then today I bought me a can of those fancy peas, you know the good kind. I have lost 2 pounds through this program and excited about it. When you are my age and only 5 foot 1, 2 pounds is good. Looking forward to the community walk tomorrow, Sunday!

We had a great time at water aerobics last night. Thanks to Kathy, our instructor, and to Dawn Loving and the Y for allowing people to participate in a class. Water exercise is very invigorating and very good for your body. If you didn't get a chance to participate contact the Y and check out class times for water aerobics, lap swimming, etc. Try something new, your body will thank you. We are winding down with CTGF activities. The 5K Walk/Run is tomorrow, the 6th, starting at the YMCA. We have a community walk at 4:30 at the Turkey Creek Golf Course on Sunday the 7th. Then we end with a community walk on the 11th and the wrap up ceremony on the 14th. Keep up the healthy eating and exercise!!

You are doing terrific McBleach. Have you thought of putting fruits and vegetables in a blender or cooking to soften them. It would be better than pudding,

I dont know about everyone else, but my results are as follows:
I have only lost about 5 pounds but I did loose 2 inches from the waist.
My blood sugars are getting back to normal.
I find myself making healthier food choices when I go out to eat. I am still struggling on snacks that will not elevate my blood sugars. Raw veggies are out cause I dont have upper teeth. I can only eat so much sugar free pudding. Any other ideas out there?
Keep up the good work McPherson!

Hal,
Thanks for the website on walking. It is good to know walking is one of the the best exercises as that is all the faster I can go these days. Kathy and I walked from our house to the Opera House to see the Vienna Boys Choir last night. We walked home after their performance. We need to use walking as a preferred transportation method more. We usually walked in China. Our city is small enough to walk much more.

There is much data out there that points to the fact that walking is one of the best things people can do to remain fit. Check out the resources at this website....http://walking.about.com/

I go on vacation and then end up sick, one week completely messed up on the challenge. I've missed you guys and have missed a lot of points. I'm going to have to push myself hard the last 2 weeks! Love the veggie ideas, thanks to all that have shared. We like to cut up whatever veggies we have, put them in tin foil, maybe a TBS of olive oil, pepper them and grill for 40 minutes. Eat them right out of the tin foil, toss the wrapper and go for a walk!

Suzanne Flemming did a good job last night at the last lecture series.
Food education is really good for us!
We may start seeing more people in the grocery store aisles reading labels!
I counted 32 in attendance.
Go McPherson!

President Hoxie,
Points for golfing is dependent on your skill level and whether you are riding in a cart or walking. Waling gets a point for every 15 minutes golfing. Cart golf gets zero. The worse your golfing skills to greater the point if walking. I may have to play all day to get a head of you.
