For many years McPherson has been one of the best towns
in Kansas and the nation in which to live and work. This has been by design and not by accident. For decades we have been blessed with visionary leaders, and our citizens have implemented that vision very successfully.
In order to continue this success our community must be willing to be adaptable and proactive. We must enlarge and renew the vision and work together to make this vision a reality. I believe this is a very attainable goal if we:
- Develop a new, advanced broad-based community vision
- Collaborate among city government, county government, community groups and the private business and service sectors
- Combine our efforts to achieve the best level of progress and coordination of skills and resources
- Make wise decisions so that the city of McPherson is fiscally responsible and operationally efficient, always evaluating what we need to do to provide the right services
This process would enable the city of McPherson to improve the demographics of our community, to achieve a good mix of all age groups; identify and implement programs necessary to have a diversified workforce; improve the housing situation to meet the needs of families with children, retirees, business and industry.
Now is the time to chart a course for the next few decades.
As mayor, I would work to make that happen.
